I have wanted to be a portrait artist since as long as I can remember and have been painting them for many years. My favorite thing is being able to help capture and celebrate cherished moments.

Since 2017 I have been participating in sidewalk chalk festivals and competitions. The thrill of completing something so big in a short period of time, plus the conversations I have with people walking by has made these something I look forward to every year.

It has been a dream of mine to translate both these things to events like weddings or quinceañeras. Moments that means so much to us!

FAQ

What is event painting?

I will come to your wedding (or other event) and paint a specific moment in time. For weddings this is typically the first kiss, the walk down the isle, the first dance, or just a general pose. Part of the experience is interacting with guests and letting them watch the painting unfold in real time!

How much does event painting cost?

Weddings begin at $2500. This includes a 20x24 acrylic painting of two subjects.

Quinceañeras begin at $1500. This includes a 16x20 acrylic painting of one subject.

For any other type of event please reach out and we can determine price.

50% off for my first five bookings!!

The cost covers materials, painting time at the event and in the studio, and travel time within 2 hours drive of Holland, MI.

I do require a 50% deposit and signed contract before I can lock your date and a plan for final payment one week before the event.

If the painting needs to be shipped the cost of shipping will be added to the contract. I am willing to work with you and travel to hand the painting over personally if possible.

Will you travel?

Yes! I’m willing to travel almost anywhere! If I can drive there an additional $0.65 per mile after a 2 hour distance will be added to the contract.

If an overnight stay is required, the cost of hotel will be added into the contract.

If a plane is required, the cost of this will be added into the contract.

If the canvas needs to be shipped back, the cost of this will be added in the contract.

What materials do you use?

I use high quality acrylics on wrapped canvas and finish with a non yellowing varnish to protect your painting from UV light and dirt.

Do you ever use oil pastels for events?

I do not use oil pastels for events. It’s harder to get all the details as with acrylics and they take a lot longer to dry because they are oils. If you still want an oil pastel portrait I can work from photos after the event. Check out my portraits page for pricing!

How much space do you need?

I will need about a 5x5 foot of space at the event to fit my easel and materials.

What else will you need at the venue?

I will need access to water and a place to dump paint water if possible. Access to an outlet would also be helpful if I need to use a light.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, I have insurance and can provide proof upon request.

Where are you located?

My studio is located in Holland, MI.

How do I schedule?

Check out the calendar to see my availability. If your date is not available but you would still like a portrait of your event done, I can work from photos afterwards! Check out my portraits page to see pricing.

I have mostly weekends open but I am willing to make exceptions. Please reach out if your day is not listed as open. I may be able to make it work.

How does it work?

After looking at the calendar you can fill out the form to request the date and include as much detail as possible about your event. I will reach out (either by phone or email) and we can begin finalizing the details. I will draft a contract and once that is signed and 50% deposit paid your date will be secured. Closer to the date I will reach out for details about setup and logistics. If at all possible I would love to see the venue. Final payment is due a week before the event. The day of I will get there as early as possible to begin the painting so that I’m set up and painting as guests arrive. If the moment I am painting is at the wedding ceremony I will be at the ceremony to capture the moment and then paint at the reception. I will be there for the entire reception and take the painting to the studio for finishing touches and varnish. A set time to either hand over the painting to a designated person or to ship it out will be determined ahead of time.

Will you paint at my ceremony?

I do not paint at the ceremony unless the ceremony and reception are combined. If the moment you want captured is during the ceremony I will be there to capture it and then work from photos to paint at the reception. Please let your photographer and videographer know that I will be taking pictures!

Will you paint at my reception?

Yes! I will be getting there early to start the background of the painting and will be painting during the entirety of your reception unless there was a separate scheduled time to end.

Will the painting be finished at the event?

The painting will be mostly finished but more than likely I will need to do some final touch ups in the studio. This is also your chance to request changes! I will varnish the painting in the studio because this can take a bit longer to dry.

What size is the painting?

The standard size canvas I use for events are 20x24 for weddings and 18x20 for quinceañeras. If you would like a different size we can discuss this. This may affect pricing.

Can my pets be included in the painting?

Absolutely!! Pets are a huge part of our lives and I would love to include them in your painting. Please send me photos of your pets before the event so that I can work from those while painting.

How many people can I include in the painting?

I typically focus on 2 people (weddings) or 1 person (quinceañeras). I can include more subjects (people or pets), but this will affect the price as the more people the more detail that needs to go into the painting. I do not count people in the background as they will more than likely be blurry/ambiguous.

Can you paint outside?

I can paint outside weather permitting!
